Report of Three Major Election Observation Networks on the Parliamentary Elections in Iraq, Baghdad 2010

"41,652 observers for the “three networks", based in 41,652 polling stations out of 52,000 polling stations across the governorates noticed the broad participation of voters, which exceeded 62% of the total number of registered voters. In Iraq, those younger than 25 have never known peace. The decades of dictatorship and war, in addition to thirteen years of embargos (1990-2003), have plunged the country into a state of chronic crisis and emptied it of its substance. The economy has collapsed, paving the way for unbridled inflation. Without prospects, the young have become obsessed with the idea of leaving. Today, more than 5.6 million Iraqis (of a population of 27 million) live beneath the poverty line; 40% of them live in extreme poverty.

Strengthening women's citizenship
