Marginalisées et réduites au silence dans une société très patriarcale, de nombreuses veuves et leurs enfants vivent sous le seuil de la pauvreté (relative ou absolue) en Irak.
Préoccupées par cette situation, les organisations du réseau IDFN ont dans un premier temps choisi de travailler pour l'obtention de meilleures pensions allouées par l'État à l'ensemble des veuves de l'Irak. Women from Iraq in solidarity with the women of the world

Members of the steering committee of the IDFN network took part in the global women's march in solidarity with women all around the world, to support their struggles for their legitimate rights and for equality.

The General Union of Students in Iraq, supported by fellow IDFN members as well as non-members, succeeded in implementing a free public transport scheme for University students in Baghdad, funded by the private sector.

Marginalized and condemned to silence in a patriarchal society, many Iraqi widows and their children live under the poverty line, whether relative or absolute.
When the IDFN campaign for increasing the well-being of widows was launched, the focus was on improving access to State pensions. Stopping Violence Against Women

The campaign for stopping violence against women is multifaceted. It initially started in Iraqi universities to raise the issue amongst the student population, but is now targeting a wider range of Iraqi society. With insecurity still rampant, concern over the treatment of women has escalated.
