Through the support of Alternatives, since 2003 the IDFN has become one of the leading electoral monitors in Iraq, benefitting from the financial support from Friedrich Ebert, UNAMI and UNOPS. More than 2000 observers have been trained by the network to monitor the electoral process in its entirety. Furthermore, through advocacy, civic education and electoral reform advocacy, the IDFN has contributed to an increase in political awareness amongst Iraqi citizens, particularly in terms of participation amongst women.
